The Shire lies to the south of the world heritage listed Barrington Tops, with numerous hiking trails, picnic spots, fishing holes and mountain biking trails a short drive away. With a vibrant arts & crafts scene plus beautiful heritage buildings, the township of Dungog offers lots to explore. Or take a scenic drive to some of Dungog’s other historic villages. DUNGOG COMMON
The Dungog Common consists of approximately 600 acres (260 ha) of land. Throughout the Common there is a network of walking, running and mountain bike trails.
HIKING
Dungog Shire has numerous walking trails through beautiful river and mountain scenery.

THE JAMES THEATRE
The James Theatre is Australia’s oldest continually operating cinema. With regular screenings and an eclectic events calendar, a visit to ‘The James’ is a must.
GOLF
With one of the best 9 hole golf courses in Australia, Dungog and District Golf Course is a short drive from Carriageway. Casual players are very welcome.
FOOD & WINE
Dungog Shire boasts a wide range of eateries including the Tinshed Brewery with great beer made on premise. With an increasing focus on local produce, the Dungog food scene is well worth exploring.
